Restaurant boosts efficiency

A concert hall needed a small goods lift to increase the capacity of their food transport between two levels. In addition, the solution had to be approved by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. Translyft delivered a Hidral goods lift that made the transport of food and beverages much easier.

The challenge

The restaurant had outgrown their previous goods lift, which was just acceptable when the restaurant was an a la carte restaurant. The concert hall in Esbjerg, Denmark, now only offers food for larger parties and large pre-show events, so they needed a solution with more capacity to transport food and drinks from the kitchen on the ground floor up to the function room on the first floor. Because the capacity of the goods lift was not sufficient, staff had to lift some of the accessories and drinks up a staircase to the function room.

The Concert hall wanted to be able to use the existing lift shaft, both because the existing lift was strategically located and because it was a much faster and cheaper solution.

The solution

The solution was a small goods lift from Hidral that was customised to accommodate the type of food trolleys they use in the kitchen. The existing shaft was extended in depth and opened up so that the doors of the goods lift could fit in the wall.

Musikhuset Esbjerg had power installed in the shaft itself, so that one type of trolley could be connected to power and keep the food warm in the process.

The result

Since the goods lift was installed, the staff at the concert hall have noticed a clear improvement in efficiency at events because large quantities of food and beverages can easily be transported up to the function room. It's a faster and more convenient setup. There has been a short period of adjustment, but all employees now avoid the stairs and actively use the goods lift, which has improved the working environment. The DVFA is satisfied because the goods lift can accommodate the hermetically sealed food trolley, so the food is stored in the most hygienic way during transport.
